Spaceship
During the break between semester 1 and semester 2 in 2019 I wanted to improve my CAD modelling and learn how to 3D print. I decided to do so by modelling one of my sketches from years ago so that I could 3D print it. I think the original sketch was done some time in the mid 2000’s. I had sketched the side profile of a spaceship designed for hauling cargo capsules.
The sketch was created using a BIC pen on ruled pad. The CAD model was created using Autodesk Fusion 360. The renders were created using Autodesk Fusion 360. The model was created using PLA and a 3D printer. The composite images with renders and backgrounds were created using Adobe Illustrator.

Original concept sketch. Created using a BIC pen on lined pad paper.

Finished spaceship CAD model. Created using Autodesk Fusion 360.

Breaking the CAD model into smaller components to 3D print a bigger model. Render created using Autodesk Fusion 360.

All of the printed components. Printed using and FDM 3D printer using PLA filament.

The printed components assembled into the spaceship and container. Printed using and FDM 3D printer using PLA filament.

The printed components, spaceship and container, combined. Printed using and FDM 3D printer using PLA filament.

Spaceship render. Created using Autodesk Fusion 360.
